What the finished experience is designed to do
Bonaventure is beautiful, but it can be overwhelming without context. This tour is being designed as a clear step-by-step experience: start here, walk here next, know what you are looking at, and understand why the person or monument matters.
What guests will get
- A curated route built around approximately 10–11 meaningful stops.
- Rich Savannah history instead of one-paragraph grave summaries.
- Local lore and ghost stories, clearly distinguished from documented fact.
- A map and sequential directions that reduce wandering and backtracking.
- A pace-your-own-day format with no need to meet a guide at a fixed time.
- Photography and visual cues to help identify each stop.
The storytelling rule
We are not going to flatten Savannah history into ghost-story clickbait. Documented history will be presented as history. Folklore will be labeled as folklore. Local legends will be told because they are part of Savannah’s culture—not because repeating them turns them into facts.
Guest experience first
The goal is not to create a digital encyclopedia. It is to make a visit to Bonaventure feel intentional: enough detail to become invested in each story, enough direction to keep moving, and enough space to actually experience the cemetery.
Is this a live guided tour?
No. This product is being built specifically as a self-guided experience you can follow at your own pace.
Will it include ghost stories?
Yes, where they meaningfully belong—but folklore and legend will be identified as such rather than presented as verified history.
How many stops?
The working guidebook is designed around roughly 10–11 curated stops.
Do I need to book a departure time?
The planned product is self-guided, so the experience is designed around your own schedule. Guests should always respect the cemetery’s current rules and visiting hours.
