Savannah at Christmas deserves more than a quick walk past the lights before dinner. This city gets absolutely beautiful during the holidays, especially once the sun goes down. The historic streets glow, City Market is dressed up, Broughton Street is strung with lights, the riverfront comes alive, and Plant Riverside turns into one of the biggest Christmas destinations in the city. So we built a night around actually experiencing it.
The Savannah Christmas Drag Queen Bar Crawl is our answer to the question we hear all the time from people planning holiday trips: what do we do after dinner? You come out with us. For two hours, a professional drag queen leads your group through downtown Savannah as the city is showing off for Christmas. You are not watching Savannah from a trolley window or checking decorations off a list. You are in the middle of it, walking the historic district at night, stopping for drinks, laughing with your queen, moving through the crowds and eventually making your way toward River Street and the Christmas Market district.
It is part Christmas adventure, part Savannah nightlife and exactly the kind of night we think a holiday trip here should have.
Make one night the fun night.
The Christmas Drag Queen Bar Crawl runs at 8:00 PM, lasts about two hours and is $49 per guest. Check the live calendar for current availability.
CHECK CHRISTMAS DATES & BOOKSavannah Is Already the Perfect Christmas Setting
There are cities that put up Christmas decorations, and then there is Savannah. The setting does most of the work for us. You already have the old buildings, brick streets, iron balconies, live oaks and historic squares. Add garlands, red bows, thousands of lights and people out enjoying the season, and downtown starts looking almost unfairly good.
Visit Savannah calls out some of the same places locals notice every year. City Market fills with lights and holiday decorations. Broughton Street gets lights stretched between the buildings. Jones Street gets garlands, bows and glowing historic homes. Forsyth Fountain gets dressed for Christmas. Then you reach the waterfront, where the holiday season gets much bigger. That is the Savannah we want our guests to experience — not just the daytime version from the travel brochure, but the city at night when everybody is out, the bars are busy, River Street is alive and Christmas is happening all around you.

Then Your Drag Queen Shows Up
This is where the night stops being a sightseeing itinerary. Your queen is your host for the evening, and she is not there simply to point at Christmas decorations. She is there to take a group of people who may have never met before and turn downtown Savannah into a night out.
That means laughs, crowd interaction, drinks, multiple nightlife stops and plenty of personality along the way. One minute you are walking through decorated Savannah, the next you are inside one of the city's nightlife spots having a cocktail, and then you are back outside moving toward the next part of the night. The city keeps changing around you as you go. You are not parked in one bar for two hours, and you are not following a guide through a quiet history lecture. Savannah itself becomes part of the experience.

And Then You Hit the Riverfront
Once you start moving toward River Street, Christmas in Savannah gets bigger. Plant Riverside District hosts the Savannah Christmas Market from November 19, 2026 through January 3, 2027. It is a European-style outdoor market spread along one of the busiest parts of the waterfront, with open-air vendor huts, holiday food and drinks, live performances, the Festival of Trees and a huge gingerbread display.
Plant Riverside says the market welcomes more than 250,000 visitors during the season, so this is not a little side attraction. It has become one of Savannah's signature holiday experiences. Our route takes the Christmas crawl through this part of the city. When the market is operating, you are not just hearing somebody tell you Savannah has a Christmas Market. You are walking right through the holiday district during your night out, with market lights on one side, the Savannah River on the other, music and crowds around you, Christmas decorations everywhere and a drag queen leading your group through the middle of it.

This Is How We Think Savannah Christmas Should Be Seen
There are plenty of perfectly respectable ways to see Savannah during Christmas. You can take a trolley tour, walk around with a camera, spend an afternoon shopping on Broughton Street or wander the Christmas Market with a hot drink. You should probably do some of those things too. But there is something completely different about experiencing the city when the lights are on, the nightlife is going and you have nowhere else you need to be.
That is why this tour starts at 8:00 PM. Dinner is over. The daytime sightseeing is done. Everybody has changed clothes, the group is finally ready and Savannah has switched into nighttime mode. Instead of asking Google where your group should go next, you meet your queen and let us take over for two hours.
If you are researching Savannah Christmas nightlife or looking for things to do in Savannah at Christmas that are actually built for adults, this is the lane we wanted to own.
Some Savannah Christmas Nights Are Even Bigger
If your trip happens to fall on one of the city's major Christmas weekends, the atmosphere can get pretty incredible. On November 28, Savannah's Lighted Boat Parade brings decorated boats along the riverfront. On December 12, the Lighted Christmas Street Parade begins at Plant Riverside and travels through downtown along River Street, Bay, Lincoln, Broughton and Jefferson Streets. Those dates are part of the official Christmas on the River calendar.
Those nights are busy. They are loud. Downtown is full. Which, for our purposes, is not exactly a problem. If you came to Savannah looking for Christmas atmosphere and a night out, you picked a good weekend.
This Is a Christmas Experience for Adults
A lot of holiday travel revolves around things designed for families and kids: Santa visits, daytime markets, tree lightings and gingerbread houses. We love all of that, but adults deserve a Christmas activity too. This is for the girls trip that wants to see the lights but also wants cocktails. It is for the couple who has already had the romantic dinner and is not ready to go back to the hotel. It is for the birthday group, the Savannah bachelorette weekend, the holiday getaway, LGBTQ+ travelers and the friends who decided they wanted December in Savannah to be a little less wholesome.
You still get the Christmas atmosphere. We just added nightlife and a drag queen.
It Is Especially Good for Groups Because Nobody Has to Plan the Night
Groups are great at planning trips until it is time to actually go out. Somebody wants River Street. Somebody wants a rooftop. Somebody saw a bar on TikTok. Somebody else wants to stay where you are. Half the group is hungry again and one person has disappeared into a gift shop. We have seen it.
The Christmas Drag Queen Bar Crawl gives the night some structure without making it feel structured. You know where to meet. You have a queen leading the experience. You are going to multiple nightlife stops. You are moving through downtown. You are seeing the Christmas atmosphere along the way. Nobody in your group has to become the cruise director. That alone may save a friendship.
Dress Like It Is Christmas. Or Don't.
Savannah gives you permission to be a little ridiculous, and Christmas gives you even more. If you want to show up in sequins, Christmas colors, Santa hats, matching outfits or whatever your group decided was a good idea in the group chat, please do. If you just want to dress for a normal night out, that works too.
The important thing is comfortable shoes. Savannah's sidewalks are historic, which is a very polite way of saying they occasionally try to kill people in heels. You will be walking. Plan accordingly.
A Few Things You Should Actually Know Before Booking
The Savannah Christmas Drag Queen Bar Crawl is a two-hour experience beginning at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $49 per guest, and everyone must be 21 or older with valid photo identification. Your professional drag queen host leads the group through multiple downtown Savannah nightlife stops while the experience moves through the city's holiday atmosphere and toward the Christmas Market district. Drinks and food are purchased separately, and the exact bar lineup can change depending on crowds, venue conditions and what is happening downtown that evening.
Our seasonal departures run Thursday through Sunday from November 1 through December 31. Because the Savannah Christmas Market itself opens November 19, guests joining us earlier in November will experience the Christmas crawl and downtown's growing holiday atmosphere, but not the operating Christmas Market. Once November 19 arrives, the market becomes another part of the Savannah Christmas landscape the route moves through.

BOOK THE CHRISTMAS DRAG QUEEN BAR CRAWLIf You Are Planning a Savannah Christmas Trip, Build One Night Around This
Do the pretty Savannah Christmas things during the day. Walk Jones Street. See Forsyth. Shop Broughton. Have dinner somewhere you have been looking forward to all month. Then make one night the fun night.
At 8:00 PM, meet your drag queen. From there, downtown Savannah becomes the itinerary. You will see the city lit for Christmas. You will experience Savannah nightlife instead of simply reading about it. You will make your way through the holiday crowds toward the waterfront. When the Christmas Market is operating, you will move through one of the biggest seasonal attractions in Savannah while you are already out celebrating.
And somewhere between the first drink, the Christmas lights, River Street and whatever your queen says next, it stops feeling like you booked another tour. It feels like you actually went out in Savannah at Christmas. That is exactly what we want.
